BAR Mark II Safari Rifle
Improved version of BAR. First introduced by Browning in 1967. Announced in 1993, this Mark II design uses a new gas system, with newly designed buffering system to improve reliability. Has new bolt release lever, new easily removable trigger assembly. Available with- or with-out sights. Walnut stock, with full pistol-grip and recoil pad on Magnum gun are standard. Receiver blued, with scroll engraving. Rifles with Magnum calibers have 24" barrel; standard calibers fitted with 22" barrel. Available in .243, .308, .270, .30-06, 7mm Rem. Magnum, .300 Win. Magnum, .338 Win. Magnum. Weight: Standard calibers 7 lbs. 9 oz.; Magnum calibers 8 lbs. 6 oz. Scope not included. NOTE: Add 30 percent for .270 Wby. Magnum, which was made for one year only.

Gas-operated semi-automatic sporting rifle. Chambered for various popular calibers from .243 up to .338 Magnum cartridges. Offered with 22" or 24" barrel, with folding leaf sight until 1980. Finish blued, with checkered walnut stock. Various grades offered, differed in amount of ornamentation, quality of materials and workmanship utilized. Earlier models manufactured in Belgium by FN; these guns would be worth approximately 15 percent additional over guns assembled in Portugal from parts manufactured by FN. Early .338 Magnum model rarely encountered and would be worth approximately 25 percent additional. Grade I values furnished are for Portuguese-assembled guns from 1977 until introduction of BAR Mark II in 1993. This model introduced in 1967; discontinued in 1977.
