Gas Seal Revolver

Chambered for .42-caliber percussion and 4.75" barrel. Unfluted cylinder holds 6 shots and spring-loaded to be forced into barrel when cocked, in order to obtain "Gas Seal" feature desired. Revolver was well made and finished. Lightly engraved, with case colored cylinder, blued barrel and frame. Grips are finely checkered walnut. Markings are "J.Lang 22 Cockspur St. London". This type of firearm was forerunner of later designs such as Russian Nagant. Manufactured in 1850s.
