Carbine

A .58-caliber single-shot percussion carbine, with 25" round barrel and full-length stock secured by two barrel bands. Fitted with sling swivels. Barrel and lock finished in bright brass furniture and walnut stock. Lock marked "C.S./Tallassee/ Ala.". Approximately 500 of these carbines manufactured in 1864. One of the rarest Confederate arms, expert authentication is essential. Too rare to estimate values. The last public sale was in 2012 at Julia Auction of a gun described as good with brown patina and pitting. It sold for $17,500.
